Eagles nest in working quarry
The difference in location of eagle eyries here in the U.K. compared to what can be found in the western U.S. is the tolerance to human activity.
I have been shown a number of Golden Eagle eyries that are on small rock faces that boarder a main highway, which clearly demonstrates that the occupants are not that bothered by the level of traffic.
This eyrie, which is closely illustrated on the previous page, is on a ridiculously small face and the amount of activity tolerated is unusually high.
Here in the U.K. we have a number of peregrine eyries on working quarry faces but our Golden Eagles are much more secretive and shy.
